Har Zion Temple, a large suburban Conservative congregation on Philadelphia’s Main Line, is hiring a dynamic team leader to guide The Noreen Cook Center for Early Childhood Education (NCCECE) into the future. The NCCECE currently encompasses educational programs year-round for children from 18 months through Kindergarten. We have also conducted “Stay and Play” programs for younger children to begin them on their journeys and to start creating a parent community. These programs offer wide-ranging opportunities for learning, creativity, self-expression and fun through experiences filled with both Judaic and secular content. Our youngest children begin to develop a strong sense of self with a well-integrated Jewish identity while learning inside our large classrooms and throughout our amazing campus. We look forward to working with our new Director to assess the current strengths of the NCCECE and preserve our positive attributes while building toward our new future. This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and engaging Director to lead a dedicated and experienced school staff and be a part of a larger synagogue community.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the plans, development, implementation and administration of all NCCECE programs under the supervision of the Director of Lifelong Learning (DLL).
Develop definite and attainable educational goals by staying current with research and developing trends in Jewish and secular education through attendance at conferences, workshops and seminars related to Jewish and secular Early Childhood Education.
Follow state regulations with regard to child care, health, safety and licensing regulations; work with licensing and accreditation agencies (DPW, Commonwealth of PA, NAEYC) to ensure on-going licensure and accreditation.
Recruit, hire and retain faculty and staff of the NCCECE.
Recruit and enroll students in the NCCECE.
Build and maintain relationships with students and parents/families in the NCCECE and the congregation.
Promote and advertise the school in the synagogue and the larger community.
Understand and apply current educational theory, practices, methodology and materials.
Translate broad educational goals into an effective curriculum that is relevant to the school.
Work collaboratively with Har Zion Temple and the Home and School Association (HSA) to develop programming for children and families throughout the year.
In coordination with the DLL and the Executive Director of the synagogue, the Director will prepare and maintain an annual budget for the NCCECE.
Exhibit a love of young children and Judaism and a sense of joy and optimism in order to serve as a role model to staff, parents and children.
